All About ACDC
The center is located off of the Argonne main campus, in wooded area of the Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve.  Ample space has been provided for, both indoor and out. Many first time visitors are awe struck at the interior of the center with its cathedral ceilings and use of nature light. Most classroom sizes exceed the state required square footage for each age group. Technology plays a role in the center with the use of security monitors, check in computer for faculty and families, as well as computers for children in the preschool, prekindergarten and school age rooms.

The center opened its doors on August 31, 1992. Argonne’s Chief Executive Officer, Alan Schriesheim and U.S. Secretary of Energy James D. Watkins dedicated the center. The center was rededicated to Beatrice Schriesheim on June 25, 1996. Mrs. Schriesheim was instrumental in establishing the childcare center.
